A comprehensive range of options for data-driven fishing and retrievals
Introducing the Welltec® Wellgrab Hi-Range Overshot and Spear (HIROS), a cutting-edge solution revolutionizing downhole fishing. HIROS seamlessly combines automated functionality with user-specified settings, offering unparalleled versatility. With motor-driven grapple engagement, automated target measurement, and exceptional force capabilities, HIROS heralds a new era of intelligent downhole fishing.
Featuring a unique motor-driven grapple engagement system delivering up to 13,000 lbs of force, HIROS easily runs through scale and debris while automatically measuring the dimensions of its target, recognizing successful latching, or re-engaging if there is a need to do so. Once latched, HIROS has up to 100,000 lbs of push/pull force at its disposal.
HIROS is available in a full range of grapple sizes in overshot and spear form, and brings all the established benefits of an Electric Release Fishing Tool (ERFT) to fully optimize fishing operations.
Imagine a downhole fishing tool that thinks for itself, adjusting its approach in real-time for maximum efficiency, to save you time and cost. That's exactly what the Wellgrab Hi-Range Overshot and Spear (HIROS) brings to the wellsite.
While a conventional mechanical fishing tool will typically have no more than 65 lbs of grapple engagement force available, HIROS allows user-specified settings up to 13,000 lbs. Furthermore, a bi-directional push/pull force of up to 100,000 lbs is available once the fish is latched, delivered via an independent stroker/actuation section of the tool.
During the engagement process with the fish, the overshot/spear measures the dimensions of its target, recognizing a successful latch. If more force is required, HIROS automatically resets and re-engages with the fish.
Featured case
Wellgrab HIROS was deployed offshore Norway to resolve a shut-in producer with a plug and BHA left downhole. Featuring a motor-driven grapple system with configurable overshots and spears, HIROS cut through debris and enabled precise, force-controlled latching on two separate fish. The first-ever HIROS deployment restored production and proved its unique value in complex fishing scenarios.
