Geothermal Well Construction and Integrity

Extend asset life via enhanced well construction and relining

Shaping the Future of Geothermal Wells

Welltec® brings more than 30 years of upstream engineering experience to the geothermal sector, providing operators with a range of reliable solutions during the well construction and enhancing the geothermal well integrity.

Our proven robotic intervention solutions provide effective and reliable solutions for pipe recovery (Well Puncher, Well Cutter) and downhole access (Well Miller, Well Cleaner).

The new and improved all-metal Welltec® Magma Packer (WMP), specifically designed and qualified to withstand the hostile conditions associated with geothermal environments, is based on our proven metal expandable packers (MEP) that offer a reliable system to provide a life of well annular integrity. With the full-bore design of our metal expandable packers and anchor, the risk of scale build-up is reduced, helping to maintain flow efficiency and reduce intervention needs over time.

Our latest addition to our well construction solutions is our all-metal expandable liner hanger (WEA-LH), which provides the only tool in the market to withstand more than 330°C and up to 1,000,000 lbs of anchoring capacity.

Welltec ensures long-term safety and reliability, reduced maintenance requirements, and extended asset life with lower CAPEX/OPEX and operational complexity. With our solutions, we ensure the extension of the well's lifetime in harsh, high-temperature environments by deploying our robust WMP, engineered to perform in the most challenging geothermal conditions.

Applications

  • Zonal isolation during geothermal well construction
  • Stage cementing alternatives in high-enthalpy environments
  • Integrity restoration through relining of existing geothermal wells
  • Pressure containment across unstable or fractured formations

Benefits

  • Long-term sealing performance under extreme geothermal conditions
  • Resistance to high temperatures, acidic fluids, and pressure/temperature cycling
  • Reduced need for rework or intervention over the life of the well
  • Reduced complexity and cost
  • Suitable for both new construction and well remediation
