Low-temp to High-temp geothermal wells

Scalable solutions for direct-use systems and high-output geothermal plants

Low-temp to High-temp geothermal wells

Welltec® provides tailored solutions for geothermal well construction and integrity across a wide thermal range, from low-temperature direct-use systems to high-temperature resources operating at up to 300°C.

Our metal expandable packers are resistant to acidic corrosion and extreme pressure/temperature swings associated with the geothermal environment, and are designed and qualified to serve multiple purposes such as cement assurance, zonal isolation – even relining applications to revive shut-in wells suffering from casing collapse or buckling.

The flexibility of these products allows operators to optimize geothermal well design, minimizing the risks and challenges associated with formation uncertainties and high temperatures.

The result: safe, prolonged asset life, enhanced well integrity, lower emissions, and reduced operational complexity.

Geothermal intervention with a lighter footprint – Scale milling

Scale buildup of silica and carbonates originating from the formation is a common challenge in geothermal wells due to the close loop nature of many systems.

By leveraging more than 30 years of experience in scale removal from oil and gas wells, Welltec applies the same expertise to efficiently clear scale in geothermal wells, restoring flow and optimizing production.

To address this challenge, the application of e-line conveyed technologies like the Well Miller® enables rigless intervention with a truck-mounted winch assembly and utilization of a crane, therefore having minimal impact on the surroundings, and can even be utilized in urban areas.

Applications
