Geothermal well construction and integrity

Extend asset life via enhanced well construction and relining

Shaping the future of geothermal wells

With over 30 years of upstream engineering experience, Welltec® delivers a range of industry-leading solutions designed for geothermal well construction, enhancing long-term well integrity, and optimizing performance through fast, efficient, lightweight intervention services.

Our completion portfolio (well construction/relining) is spearheaded by the all-metal Welltec® Magma Packer (WMP), evolved from our proven metal expandable packer (MEP) solutions that provide life-of-well annular integrity to thousands of oil & gas wells across the globe.  The Welltec Magma Packer is specifically designed and qualified to withstand the hostile conditions associated with geothermal environments.

Anchoring capacity can be provided by a Welltec Expandable Anchor (WEA) for Liner Hanger, which represents the only solution of its kind on the market capable of withstanding more than 330°C, while delivering 1,000,000 lbs of anchoring capacity.
Once your geothermal assets are up and running, Welltec® provides precision intervention services for challenges such as pipe recovery (Welltec® Puncher, Well Cutter®), downhole access, or scale milling (Well Miller®, Well Cleaner®) to ensure optimal performance.

The full range of products and services gives geothermal operators long-term safety, reliability, reduced maintenance requirements, and extended asset life with lower CAPEX/OPEX.

Applications

  • Zonal isolation during geothermal well construction
  • Stage cementing alternatives in high-enthalpy environments
  • Integrity restoration through relining of existing geothermal wells
  • Pressure containment across unstable or fractured formations

Benefits

  • Long-term sealing performance under extreme geothermal conditions
  • Resistance to high temperatures, acidic fluids, and pressure/temperature cycling
  • Reduced need for rework or intervention over the life of the well
  • Reduced complexity and cost
  • Suitable for both new construction and well remediation
